The Traditional Country of Australia’s Western Desert is brought to life in Grant Samuel’s Western Desert Collection that will be open to the public for the first time at Nanda\Hobbs gallery in Sydney from April 6-8, 2022.

The Western Desert stretches across Western Australia, northern South Australia and the southwest corner of the Northern Territory. The Traditional Owners throughout this area are among Australia’s most talented artists.

Grant Samuel is a corporate finance firm that has been collecting Indigenous art for 20 years and its curation currently includes 31 artworks from emerging and established Indigenous Artists.

Artists exhibiting in the limited time exhibition include: George Tjungurrayi, Ronnie Tjampitjinpa, John John Bennett Tjapangati, Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri, Ningura Napurrula, Regina Pilawuk Wilson and Bill Whiskey Tjapaltjarri.

During the exhibition Grant Samuel will also profile the work of Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) – a global leader in conservation that provides hope for Australia’s wildlife. Grant Samuel has been a corporate partner of AWC since 2005 and its co-CEO, Guy Fergusson is an AWC board member and passionate supporter of Australia’s landscapes, wildlife and heritage.

“Sharing this wonderful collection of Indigenous Art is part of our desire to connect our community of corporates with Australia’s heritage and Country,” Fergusson said. “These artists have evoked the spirit of our vast desert landscapes and we’re delighted to share the inspiration with our corporate partners and the public.”

Nicole Hauser, Art Consultant at the Nanda/Hobbs gallery said this exhibition is a curation of extraordinary works from some of the most renowned Indigenous Artists.

At the time of this exhibition Nanda\Hobbs will also display a solo show by Adam Nudelman, Where Some Find Peace. The exhibition explores notions of identity and belonging to place.

Nanda/Hobbs Gallery is at 12 Meagher Street Chippendale NSW 2008. The Gallery open hours are: 9am – 5pm (Monday – Friday); and 11am – 4pm (Saturday)
